The CJLD Committee is formed from a mixture of NQs, Trainees and Paralegals. If you would like to get in touch with any of us, we would love to hear from you!

Alice Hall

President

Alice is a Trainee Solicitor at Taylor Vinters (part of the Mishcon de Reya Group) and spent over 4 years as a Paralegal at the same firm prior to starting her training contract in September 2022. She served as a Social Secretary on the Committee for 2 years before becoming President. As President of the CJLD, Alice would like to encourage more in-person events following the impact that the pandemic has had on networking. The 2023 Committee is looking forward to putting on lots of exciting events including the hugely popular Annual Charity Ball alongside CYPG and we hope to raise lots of money for charity.

Jonathan Dattani

Vice President

Jonny is a second year Trainee Solicitor at Woodfines LLP. He completed LLM Legal Practice Course (Solicitors) with distinction at BPP, having previously completed the GDL and a BA (Hons) in Philosophy with Law. Jonathan is also an affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, with a background in Wills & Probate. As Vice President for 2023, he looks forward to expanding the membership of the CJLD, giving junior legal professionals the opportunity to connect, and to being the CJLD’s representative with the Cambridgeshire Law Society.

Phoebe Fortune

Treasurer

Phoebe is a Paralegal at Woodfines LLP and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Lincoln. Phoebe is excited to join the 2023 Committee as Treasurer and looks forward to growing the society and continuing the organisation of fun and engaging events  for both new and current members with the aim to increase the successful networking of young lawyers across Cambridgeshire.

Abbie Melloy

Social Secretary

Abbie is a second year Trainee Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell LLP. She studied law at University of Lincoln and completed her LPC MSC at the University of Law in Moorgate. Abbie was part of the Committee last year and is excited to continue as Social Secretary and organise a variety of events to bring together current and future junior lawyers from across Cambridgeshire.

Megan is a Paralegal in the Clinical Negligence team at Tees. She studied Law at the University of Southampton and will be starting the SQE in April 2023. As a Social Secretary on the 2023 CJLD Committee, Megan hopes to carry on and build on the successful events of 2022. She's looking forward to taking an active role in the committee by organising various fun events to connect more firms and young lawyers across the Cambridge area.

Lauren Woosey

Social Secretary

Lauren is a Paralegal in the Commercial team at Mills & Reeve. She studied law at Newcastle University prior to completing the LPC and LLM with the University of Law at the Newcastle campus. Lauren is excited to be joining the Committee as Social Secretary this year and is eager to meet new people and get involved in organising fun events for like minded young people in the Cambridgeshire area.

Isobel Inkley

Isobel is a Trainee Solicitor at Birketts LLP currently completing her second seat in Private Client. Prior to joining Birketts, she studied Education Studies with History at Durham University and went on to complete her GDL and LPC at BPP Holborn, London. Isobel is looking forward to helping organise and plan exciting events for junior lawyers throughout Cambridgeshire.

Joseph Beaumont

Social Secretary 

Joe is a second year trainee solicitor at Howes Percival. He studied law at the University of Manchester and is currently completing SQE 2. As a social secretary on the CJLD Committee 2023, Joe is looking forward to getting stuck in to organising fun and exciting events for both qualified and trainee lawyers in Cambridge.

Gabriella Cox

Social Secretary

Gabriella is a Paralegal in the Litigation department at Tees, and is due to commence her Training Contract in September 2023. She graduated from The University of York in 2016 with a degree in Law and has completed the Legal Practice Course. As a Social Secretary, Gabriella is looking forward to collaborating with the rest of the Committee and helping to organise some fun events for junior lawyers to network.

Nicola Warren

Publicity Representative

Nicola is a second year Trainee Solicitor at Mills & Reeve. As a Publicity Representative for the 2023 Committee, Nicola will focus on developing CJLD’s social media presence and will continue to publicise events as much as possible to junior legal professionals around Cambridgeshire.

Olivia Atkinson

Publicity Representative

Olivia is a second-year trainee solicitor at Stephenson Law, currently in her third seat in the Emerging Tech & Regulation department. She completed the LPC LLM with Distinction in 2021, and with a background in English language and literature, Olivia is well equipped to support the 2023 Committee in writing and editing website copy and legal articles. Olivia is also a member of the Society of Computers & Law Trainee Group and hopes to encourage connections between junior lawyers across the East and in London through collaborative events as a result.

Kate Ciborowski

Education Representative

Kate is an Associate for Mills & Reeve LLP.  She qualified into the Banking & Finance team in 2021. Kate completed her GDL and LPC at BPP University in Cambridge. Prior to retraining as a solicitor, Kate was a post-doctoral research scientist with a particular interest in evolution and conservation genetics and is happy to share her views on the rewards and challenges of coming to law from a different career. As the Education Representative for the CJLD Committee for 2023, she looks forward to building on the relationships between CJLD and Cambridge legal training providers to support students who are moving towards the start of their legal careers become part of the junior lawyer network.

Beth Farrer

Charity Representative

Beth is a first year trainee at Mills and Reeve. She studied history at the University of the West of England, then completed her GDL and LPC at Sheffield University and the University of Law. As Charity Representative Beth is looking forward to working with the CJLD chosen charity and the Publicity Representatives to raise awareness and support for this year’s charity.
